BDS provides booksellers and media sales outlets, both physical and online, the quality data needed to assist in the selection and sales process.
BDS aggregates data on books, DVD, music, games, e-books, audio books that builds into a complete media stockholding. Extended content including images, sound and video clips, screenshots, descriptions, contents pages and music artist biographies is also available.
Each record is designed to meet all your stock, sales, search and research requirements. To reflect the dynamic nature of publishing across media, our subscription service is updated daily, and contains information vital in the context of bookselling and media sales, such as format, status and sales information where available.
BDS removes the need for book and media retail outlets to source information from all the publishers in the United Kingdom. If you sell to libraries, you do not need to employ specialist staff to create MARC records. BDS can send records to your library customers by arrangement. Records provided via BDS can be sent to libraries to load directly into their acquisitions and cataloguing systems.
Our team of cataloguers can produce catalogue records on demand for titles not represented in our database. This service can be used to supplement our subscription service. The cost of record creation varies according to the type of material catalogued. Catalogue records can be returned to your company or sent direct to the library customer.
BDS metadata can be supplied in ONIX, or be mapped readily to proprietary formats used in-house by retailers. BDS can supply selected categories of information, such as fiction titles or children’s titles or foreign language titles, if you specialise in a particular area.
