Subject Analysis Cataloguer

Essential skills:

  • Excellent understanding of the principles of subject analysis
  • Proficiency and practical experience in Dewey Decimal Classification and/or Library of Congress Classification
  • Experience in constructing Library of Congress Subject Heading strings
  • Understanding of the principles of RDA
  • Familiarity with the MARC21 format
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with an eye for detail

Useful additional skills:

  • Knowledge of NLM or Moys classification and MESH headings

This post is full-time and permanent, subject to satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

This post can be based in our Dumfries office, or candidates can work remotely from home, subject to satisfactory internet speeds being achievable. Full training in BDS procedures will be provided.
